| The central aim of the EML European Media Laboratory GmbH is to develop
innovative IT solutions and collaborate with other companies to convert
those solutions into novel applications. Usability is the crucial factor in all our work. This vital
concern is discussed in greater detail in the description of the
approach adopted by the Research Department.
The feasibility criteria for these objectives can only be met if the
company is substantially involved in the relevant research work. This
involvement can either take the form of self-initiated projects or
(more frequently) participation in research consortia.
Ongoing research is the only environment that can generate genuinely new approaches with innovative application potential.
At the same time, the company must have sufficient development
capacity at its disposal if it is to succeed in implementing its
research results for practical purposes. A set-up of this kind is of
course also conducive to a high degree of excellence and expertise in
the development and consultancy sector.
